Student Recreation Center
The new Rec Center will become one of the most utilized, most visible and most integral buildings in a student’s life at UConn. Located in the heart of the core of the central campus, the building is located on Hillside Road across from legendary Gampel Pavilion, the UConn Bookstore, South Parking Garage, and School of Business. It will be used primarily by students, but also Faculty, Staff and UConn Community.
Historically, over 75% of the student population use the Rec Center each year to stay fit, join in wellness and exercise programs, play intramural games, swim, socialize, or take a break between classes. We are moving into a building with over 5 times the square footage of the current facility: 191,000 square feet! More fitness equipment, more courts, more personal space, more everything with less wait time: all things students have asked for.
