Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to enter the tournament? 

The price is $300 per team until January 29th, 2023 then $350 per team until registration closes on February 12th 2023.

How do I pay? 

The Captain of your team will pay during the registration process by credit/debit card .

How many people can I have on a team? 

You can have up to 15 athletes on a team. You must have a minimum of 5 players to be eligible for the tournament.

How many games will I play? 

You are guaranteed to play at least 2 games with the potential to play up to 5 or 6 games.

What are the different divisions? 

  • Club Division: The club division is recommended for teams that regularly conduct practices, have coaches and compete against institutions outside of their college/university. This division is meant for teams that are looking to compete at the highest level.  
  • Unified Division: In partnership with the Special Olympics, the Unified Division is an inclusive division that combines an approximately equal number of Special Olympics athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities) and Unified partners (individuals without intellectual disabilities) on teams. Partners are required to be enrolled at the institution they are representing 

Where is the tournament? 

The tournament is located at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut.

What prizes could I win? 

Everyone who registers before January 29th is guaranteed a t-shirt, a Powerade water bottle, and a tournament goodie bag. In addition, each division winner will receive an entry fee for the NIRSA National Basketball Championships in College Park, Maryland. 

Who has access to the Student Recreation Center?

Only players who are on the final roster will have access to the Student Recreation Center throughout the tournament. If a team has a coach (maximum two per team), the coach will have the same access as a player.

Will spectators and guests be allowed to attend the tournament?

Spectators are permitted in the Student Recreation Center and may gain access to the building by:

  • For spectators purchasing a Guest Pass, please visit the Guest Pass page of our website
    for information and the steps required to purchase your pass
  • A Guest Pass must be purchased on the day they are used to access the building
  • All spectators purchasing a Guest Pass must be 18 years of age or older

Spectators are prohibited from bringing their own chairs into the SRC.

Will spectators and guests be allowed to attend the tournament?

Spectators and guests will only be allowed to attend the championship games on Sunday, February 6th in Gampel Pavilion.
