INDOOR TRIATHLON
October 6, 2024

The UConn Rec Indoor Triathlon is Back! The Indoor Triathlon is a swim, bike and run event — all taking place inside the Student Recreation Center. Participants will complete 500-yard swim, 8-mile bike and 2-mile run. You can compete individually or as a team of 3. The event is the perfect opportunity for beginners or advanced competitors.

The Course

The DEKA course will consist of 10 training zones. For DEKA MILE, you will run 160m before each zone. For DEKA STRONG, there is no running. The zones are always presented in this order:

Zone 1. 30 Weighted Alternating Reverse Lunge (33#/55#)

Zone 2. 500m Row

Zone 3. 20 Box Jump Over/Step Overs (24" Box)

Zone 4. 25 Med-Ball Sit-Ups (14#/20#)

Zone 5. 500m Ski Erg

Zone 6. 100m Dumbbell Farmers Carry (40#/60#)

Zone 7. 25 Cal Air Bike

Zone 8. 20 Dead Ball Shoulder Overs (40#/60#)

Zone 9. 100m Tank Push/Pull

Zone 10. 20 Weighted Burpees (22#/44#)

Your score will be based on the time it takes to complete the full circuit.

Weights are listed as female/male.

How To Register

Individuals & Teams of 3

  1. Log in on myrec.uconn.edu with your NetID and password.
  2. Select Indoor Triathlon and purchase the Special Event membership.
  3. Open and log in to the Fusion Play App and select Indoor Triathlon to sign up as an Individual or to Create or Join a Team
    • If registering as an Individual, select the correct division, press the “+” button on the bottom right corner, and select “Create a Team”. Enter your Full Name as the “Team Name”.
    • If registering as a Team Captain, select the correct division, press the “+” button on the bottom right corner, and select “Create a Team”. Once the team has been created, you can invite your team members.
      • Team Captains: Please see FAQ section on how to invite team members
    • If registering to join a team, choose the correct division, and pick your team to “Request to Join” the team. The team captain will have to approve your request to join the team.

Each participant must purchase a Special Event membership and sign the waiver to compete in this event.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN UNTIL WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2ND.

What to Expect

ARRIVAL:
Plan to arrive an hour before your start time. This gives you plenty of time to park, pick up your registration packet and get warmed up.

WHAT TO BRING:
Your ID, Confirmation Email with QR Code, Hydration

SPECTATORS:
We do not allow spectators for this event.

Who is eligible to participate?

UConn SRC Members

How do I add members to my team?

Team captains can invite team members from your roster page, as long as they have purchased a Special Event membership for this event.

Can I bring food/drink?

Water is only allowed

Where do I check in on event day?

You will enter the SRC through Hillside entrance and check-in will be located in the Husky Suite. Bring your UConn ID or SRC ID card.

What do I wear to compete?

Participants will need to bring their own SWIM, BIKE, and RUN apparel and gear, including (but not limited to): Swim Goggles, Swim wear, Running shoes.

Bikes-bike pedals are dual sided for sneakers or SPD compatible cycling shoes.

What is the order of events?

  1. Swim 500 yards
  2. Bike 8 miles 
  3. Run 2 miles  

What treadmills are used at the event?

Matrix Treadmill

What bikes are used at the event?

Spinning Chrono bikes

What kind of shoes can you use on the bikes?

Sneakers or SPD compatible bike shoes
