Membership Options

Student Memberships

Membership is included with payment of student tuition and fees.

All currently enrolled Storrs-based undergraduate and graduate students who pay Storrs tuition and mandatory fees, including the Storrs General University Fee (GUF) & Student Recreation Center Fee, are members of the Student Recreation Center as outlined on the Bursar’s Office website.

Please refer to your Fee Bill to verify payment of the required fees.

SHaW Non-Compliance or Bursar Holds
Students with SHaW Non-Compliance or Bursar holds applied to their accounts will have their access privileges denied until the associated hold is cleared from their account. Please visit the Student Health and Wellness website or the Bursar's Office website for more information.

Non-Student Memberships

Membership is available to the following groups:

UConn Faculty/Staff
Currently employed by the University as Faculty/Staff

UConn Affiliates
Those that work at UConn but are not employed as Faculty/Staff

UConn Alumni
Those who have graduated from the university

UConn Retirees
Those who have retired from university employment

Community
Anyone who is not currently affiliated with the university or who qualifies for any other membership type

UConn Student Non-Fee
Students not assessed the Student Recreation Fee. *Refer to your Fee Bill to determine pricing category

Membership Sales

In-person sales appointments are available Monday - Thursday from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Email recmembership@uconn.edu to schedule and indicate your preferred date/time.

Fitness Center

  • Fitness Zones: Four separate areas of open workout space with cardio and weights, totaling 32,000 sq. ft.
  • Aquatic Center: Lap swimming pool and leisure pool
  • Four-Court Gymnasium
  • Multipurpose Activity Courts (MAC Courts)
  • Racquetball Courts
  • Climbing Center: 5000 sq. ft., 3-story indoor climbing and bouldering walls

  • Towel Service: Bath towels and sweat towels available for self-check/return out at towel kiosks

  • Wi-Fi: UConn wireless internet throughout facility
  • Day Lockers: Free combination lockers in the open fitness areas for temporary, secure storage

Membership Options

Can I purchase my membership online or in-person?

Online: Memberships are available for online purchase with MyRec for the following: Faculty/Staff, UConn Affiliates and Student Non-Fees. NetID required for login.

In-person: All memberships are available in-person, by appointment only. Sales hours are Monday - Thursday 9am - 3pm. Email recmembership@uconn.edu to schedule your appointment. Please indicate preferred date and time in your request.

How do I sign up for a Payroll Deduction Membership?

Payroll Deduction memberships must be purchased in-person, by appointment only. Email recmembership@uconn.edu to schedule. Please indicate preferred date and time in your request.

Faculty/Staff eligibility only.

Is my spouse/partner able to purchase a membership?

  • The Plus One (+1) membership applies to spouses/domestic partners of an eligible Faculty, Staff, or Affiliate.
  • The primary member must be a current member and maintain membership for the Plus One (+1) to be eligible for the pricing category.
  • The primary member and Plus One (+1) must both be present at sign-up.
  • The primary member must be a current member to add a Plus One (+1) and must also be present at sign-up.
  • Payroll deduction is available to Faculty/Staff memberships only.
  • This membership category is not available for purchase online.

Is there an age requirement for membership?

  • To sign-up for a membership, you must be 18 years or older.
  • Valid ID required at sign-up.

How can I renew my membership?

  • Renewals are available online by logging in to your account at MyRec
  • In-person memberships are available by appointment only. Email recmembership@uconn.edu

What type of payment do you accept?

UConn Recreation accepts Credit Card and Apple Pay only for all membership types

Do I have to pay tax on my membership?

All memberships subject to 6.35% Connecticut sales tax

How do I cancel my membership?

Membership cancellation requests must be submitted through our Membership Cancellation Request form.

Locker Rentals

Can I purchase a locker online?

Lockers must be initially purchased in-person and are by appointment only. Renewals can be purchased online at MyRec.
