About UConn Rec Personal Training

Personal Training is a great way to kickstart your fitness journey or elevate your current routine. Our certified trainers create personalized programs tailored to your goals, whether you're preparing for a specific event or looking to become more confident in the gym.

All of our trainers are certified fitness professionals who hold an NCCA-accredited personal training certification and have completed our in-house 11-week Personal Training Prep Course.

1-on-1 Training

Personalized exercise instruction, instruction on proper technique, and motivation for achieving health and fitness goals.

Three (3) session package $150.00
Five (5) session package $250.00
Ten (10) session package $475.00

Partner Training

Pair up with a friend or partner to reach your fitness goals together for instruction on proper technique, and motivation for achieving health and fitness goals.

Three (3) session package $225.00
Five (5) session package $375.00
Ten (10) session package $750.00

How to Sign Up for Personal Training:

UConn Rec Membership is required for sign up.

2. Onboarding: Forms and Payment

 

You will be sent a health history form and Payment link to sign up for your sessions. Please note: some clients will need a Medical Clearance. This will be communicated to the client before your first session is scheduled.

3. Schedule your sessions

 

Once forms are returned and payment is completed, you will be contacted by the Assistant Program Director and your personal trainer to schedule your first meeting.

Personal Training Policies

  1. Must be a current member of the SRC to purchase a package.
  2. Personal training packages are valid for 6 months from dates of purchase.
  3. All sessions will take place within the UConn Recreation Student Recreation Center.
  4. Personal training packages are not transferable.
  5. Personal Training appointments can be cancelled up to 4 hours before the appointment. "No-shows" or appointments cancelled less than 4 hours before the scheduled time, will be charged for missed sessions.
  6. If your trainer needs to cancel an appointment, this will be done no later than 4 hours before the appointment begins. Clients will not be charged for sessions cancelled by a trainer.
  7. All sessions are 1 hour - sessions cannot be divided into 30-minute (or less) intervals.
  8. Members are expected to adhere to all existing UConn Recreation member policies during training sessions.
  9. Please Note: Personal Training schedules and availability are subject to change.

Refund Policy

There are no refunds for cancellations of programs in which payment is required.

Additional Fitness Services

Fitness Assessment

Fitness Assessments are used to estimate one’s current fitness level. Our assessments measure five components of fitness: body composition, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility. Our assessment includes:

  • InBody Body Composition Test (body composition and hydration)
  • 3-Minute Step Test (cardiovascular endurance)
  • Curl-Up Test (muscular endurance)
  • 1- minute push-up Test (muscular strength)
  • Sit and Reach Test (flexibility)

In-Body

Go beyond the scale with the InBody Test, a non-invasive, quick, and accurate body composition analysis that provides a detailed breakdown of your total weight, between muscle, fat, and water. Your comprehensive yet easy-to-understand measurements will be provided on your InBody Result Sheet.

    Equipment Orientation

    Interested in beginning a fitness program, but don't know where to start? Get your own equipment orientation! Our Personal Trainers will meet you for 30 minutes to give you a tour of select fitness floors and can help answer questions you may have about select equipment.

    What you can expect from this orientation:

    • help finding the correct seat adjustments
    • a basic weight/load guideline
    • a brief overview of select cardiovascular machines.

    This orientation is not a personal training session, nor a prescribed/designed workout for one participant.

    Interested in becoming a Personal Trainer?

    Applications are accepted only during the Spring recruitment period. Accepted candidates will be enrolled in our 11-week Personal Training Prep Course in the Fall. After successfully completing the course and earning your ACA certification, you will be eligible to serve as a Personal Trainer.
