DEKA MILE & DEKA STRONG

DEKA is an indoor fitness competition featuring a race course with 10 functional fitness zones – it’s fitness gamified and designed for all levels. No matter your background or experience, DEKA will help you set your baseline and train with a purpose.
DEKA MILE includes a 160-meter run before each zone, 1 mile total.
Test yourself against a global fitness standard, earn your DEKA Mark and commemorate your achievement with your finisher medal and t-shirt!

The Course
The DEKA course will consist of 10 training zones. For DEKA MILE, you will run 160m before each zone. For DEKA STRONG, there is no running. The zones are always presented in this order:
Zone 1. 30 Weighted Alternating Reverse Lunge (33#/55#)
Zone 2. 500m Row
Zone 3. 20 Box Jump Over/Step Overs (24" Box)
Zone 4. 25 Med-Ball Sit-Ups (14#/20#)
Zone 5. 500m Ski Erg
Zone 6. 100m Dumbbell Farmers Carry (40#/60#)
Zone 7. 25 Cal Air Bike
Zone 8. 20 Dead Ball Shoulder Overs (40#/60#)
Zone 9. 100m Tank Push/Pull
Zone 10. 20 Weighted Burpees (22#/44#)
Your score will be based on the time it takes to complete the full circuit.
Weights are listed as female/male.

What to Expect
ARRIVAL:
Plan to arrive an hour before your start time. This gives you plenty of time to park, pick up your registration packet and get warmed up.
WHAT TO BRING:
Your ID, Confirmation Email with QR Code, Hydration
SPECTATORS:
Your biggest fans are able to attend free of charge, everyone will be required to complete a waiver prior to entering the Student Recreation Center.
Spectators under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
What is the difference between DEKA MILE and DEKA STRONG?
DEKA MILE -- Each competitor will run 160 meters (.1 miles) before entering each zone for a total of 1 mile of running.
DEKA STRONG -- There is no running! You will just complete each zone going right from zone to zone.

Do you allow spectators?
Spectators are able to attend free of charge. All spectators and participants will be required to complete a waiver prior to entering the Student Recreation Center.
Spectators under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Is there an age requirement?
Participants must be 18 years or older to participate in the DEKA event at UConn Recreation.
Do I have to be a UConn student or have a UConn Rec membership to participate?
The event is open to the public. You do not need a UConn Recreation membership to participate.
What time should I arrive?

Complete the 10 DEKA Zones in order (1-10) with no running.
DEKA MILE
Complete the 10 DEKA Zones in order (1-10) with each zone preceded by a 160 meter run or walk (total of 1600 meters/1 mile)
DEKA STRONG Teams
Complete DEKA STRONG as a team of 2 Adults (18+) Female, Co-Ed, and Male Categories
Adult Team Age Groups (adult ages combined) are 59 and Under, 60-79, 80-99, 100-119, and 120+
DEKA MILE Teams
Complete DEKA MILE as a team of 2 Adults (18+). Female, Co-Ed, and Male Categories
Adult Team Age Groups (adult ages combined) are 59 & under, 60-79, 80-99, 100-119, and 120+
