DEKA MILE & DEKA STRONG

DEKA is an indoor fitness competition featuring a race course with 10 functional fitness zones – it’s fitness gamified and designed for all levels. No matter your background or experience, DEKA will help you set your baseline and train with a purpose.
DEKA MILE includes a 160-meter run before each zone, 1 mile total.
Test yourself against a global fitness standard, earn your DEKA Mark and commemorate your achievement with your finisher medal and t-shirt!

Join us at UConn Recreation for a HYROX experience like no other!
We are thrilled to bring the HYROX Physical Fitness Test (PFT) to UConn Rec. Whether you're looking to try HYROX for the first time or are an experienced racer, the PFT is the ultimate fitness challenge to test yourself. Think of it as your personal “TRYROX” moment!
Current HYROX World Champion Meg Jacoby will join us as our special guest host to take the stage and share her incredible journey to the top. Meg is a former UConn Track & Field/Cross Country athlete and we are excited to have her back on campus to inspire and motivate us with her fitness story and winning mindset. She'll also share her favorite tips and insights to help you crush your HYROX goals and "UNLEASH" your performance!

The HYROX PFT
The HYROX Physical Fitness Test was designed to give you an introduction into HYROX and measure where your fitness level is at. The workout includes:
- 1000m Run (Assault Runner)
- 50 Burpee Broad Jumps (90 cm)
- 100 Stationary Lunges (Fully Extended)
- 1000m Row
- 30 Push Ups (Hand Release)
- 100 Wallballs (6kg male / 4kg female)
The HYROX PFT will give you an indication of your fitness level and help you select which division to sign up for at a HYROX Event.

HYROX Elite World Champion '24, Megan "Meg" Jacoby
Meg Jacoby, the 2024 HYROX World Champion, is an elite hybrid fitness athlete, a mother, and a former UConn Division 1 collegiate runner. From Endwell, NY, Meg made history as the first woman to complete a HYROX Pro race in under 60 minutes.
In addition to her athletic achievements, she is a passionate hybrid coach, committed to helping athletes reach their full potential. Through her training programs, Meg pushes athletes to break through both physical and mental barriers, focusing on challenging workouts with a strong emphasis on motivation and work ethic.

What to Expect
PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION:
Space is limited! All participants are required to pre-register and complete the event waiver.
WHAT TO BRING:
Your ID, Confirmation Email, Workout Attire, Hydration
ARRIVAL:
All participants should plan to arrive to check into the Rec Center lobby at 9:30am. Allow plenty of time to park, walk to the Rec Center, complete check in, and receive your wristband. Doors to the gymnasium will open 10:00am.

Do you allow spectators?
Spectators are able to attend to observe, but may not participate in the PFT, utilize equipment, or enter the warm up area.
All spectators will be required to complete a waiver and receive guest identification prior to entering the Student Recreation Center.
Spectators under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Is there an age requirement?
Participants must be 18 years or older to participate in the HYROX PFT event at UConn Recreation.
Do I have to be a UConn student or have a UConn Rec membership to participate?
The event is open to the public. You do not need a UConn Recreation membership to participate.
What time should I arrive?
Participants and spectators should plan to arrive to the Student Recreation Center at 9:30am. Allow plenty of time to park, walk to the Rec Center, check in, and receive your wristband.
What should I bring with me?

Complete the 10 DEKA Zones in order (1-10) with each zone preceded by a 160 meter run or walk (total of 1600 meters/1 mile)
DEKA STRONG Teams
Complete DEKA STRONG as a team of 2 Adults (18+) Female, Co-Ed, and Male Categories
Adult Team Age Groups (adult ages combined) are 59 and Under, 60-79, 80-99, 100-119, and 120+
